Habitat: Growing in a swamp of mostly Thuja occidentalis on wet mossy floor of mostly Sphagnum. Best growth in small canopy openings along a long-abandoned logging road covered with Sphagnum, with Equisetum arvense, Pyrola secunda, Coptis trifolia, Mitella nuda, Galium triflorum. Approximately 500 stems seen over an area of approximately 0.25 acre--most stems fertile.
