Habitat: Excellent bluff prairie. Large bluff prairie on calcareous substrate, little disturbed. Bluff prairie along lower river, with Aster ptarmicoides, A. sericeus, A. azureus, A. oblongifolius, A. ericoides, Helianthus occidentalis, Salix humilis, Prunus pumila, Bouteloua hirsuta, B. curtipendula, Solidago rigida, S. nemoralis, Andropogon gerardii, A. scoparius, Sorghastrum nutans, Scutellaria leonardii, Amorpha canescens, Baptisia leucophaea, Comandra umbellata, Sporobolus heterolepis, Potentilla arguta, Euphorbia corolatta, Spiranthes cernua, Liatris cylindracea, Kuhnia eupatorioides, Equisetum hyemale, Stipa spartea, Liatris aspera, Ratibida pinnata, Koeleria macrantha, Petalostemum purpureum, Lespedeza capitata, Agalinis aspera, Linum sulcatum, Oenothera serrulata, Muhlenbergia cuspidata; and on rock outcrops Cheilanthes feei, Pellaea glabella, Campanula rotundifolia. Also scattered Quercus macrocarpa, Populus tremuloides, Celastrus scandens, Rhus glabra, Betula papyrifera and Ambrosia
