Habitat: Thicket-filled Juniperus virginiana woods (with Populus tremuloides & dwarfed Quercus macrocarpa) developed on flat dolomite pavement; soil reddish, silty clayey loam, very thin; dry, well-drained habitat. Assoc.: Carex pensylvanica-abundant, Anemone quinquefolia-abundant, Galium aparine-occasional, Maianthemum canadense-abundant, Symphoricarpos albus-abundant, Monarda fistulosa, Smilacina racemosa-common. Rare.
