Habitat: Mucky mossy, ditch-like bottom of strip of low prairie (Agrostis gigantea dominant, Spartina pectinata and Eleocharis compressa locally subdominant); assoc.: Agalinis tenuifolia, Carex granularis, Eleocharis elliptica, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Euthamia graminifolia, Gentiana andrewsii, Juncus dudleyi, J. torreyi, Liatris, Lysimachia, Lycopus americanus, Panicum virgatum, Salix glaucophylloides, S. petiolaris, Scirpus atrovirens, Solidago riddellii, and Verbena hastata. Eleocharis in some places mostly E. compressa, other spots all E. elliptica.
