Habitat: Large wet mesic prairie (25 acres), quite flat with seasonally flooded shallow depressions, surrounded by agricultural fields on all sides. Soil: dark colored loam with sandy clayey loam subsoil and a large amont of organic matter. Assoc.: Sphenopholis intermedia, Koeleria macrantha, Lysimachia quadriflora, Geum aleppicum var. strictum, Rosa arkansana var. suffulta (abundant), Zizia aptera, Z. aurea, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Asclepias sullivantii, Galium boreale ssp. septentrionalis, Rudbeckia hirta var. pulcherima, Silphium laciniatum, S. terebinthinaceum.
