Georeference Remarks: Latitude/Longitude was derived from the Township, Range, Section location. This causes an imprecision.
Habitat: Fine "relict" stand of Tsuga canadensis and Betula alleghaniensis, with Acer saccharum and Tilia americana. Steep, rocky N facing slopes of Cambrian sandstone bluff with low cliff ledges, and very steep slanting ss. walls. Shallow mineral soil with pH= 5.2. Additional information for Cochrane & Nee 5660: Cones from the ground. A.) Drier uper slopes: Taxus candensis, Actaea rubra, Hepatica acutiloba, Mitella diphylla, Circaea lutetiana canadensis, & Solidago flexicaulis. and B.) Moister middle and lower slopes: Taxus canadensis, Athyrium thelypteroides, Dryopteris austriaca intermedia, Onoclea sensibilis, Carex albursina, Pilea sp., Laportea candensis, Asarum canadnese, Actaea rubra, Acer spicatum, Aralia racemosa, Sambucus pubens, Osmorhiza claytonii, Adoxa moschat.
