Habitat: Shaded bluffs of a rotten, slate-like red rock down to the water's edge. Present in only one small side ravine (with a few old plants of Thuja occidentalis) with evident cold air drainage, where about 15 mature clumps (many quite robust) and about 10 immature clumps were noted.
