Habitat:
Stream mostly 25 to 40 ft. wide, less than 4 ft. deep, bottom soft mud to sand, water coffee-brown but clear at high water, surrounding vegetation Carex-Calamagrostis meadow, Alnus thickets, Larix-Picea swamps or upland mixed deciduous-conifer forests. Aquatic vegetation locally dense: Sparganium (chlorocarpum?) abundant; Potamogetom alpinus, P. zosteriformis, Sagittaria cuneata, Elodea (canadensis?) locally common.
