Habitat:
Region of rich mesic to moist, very dense prairie. Additional data for Cochrane et al. 11275-11287: Old sandy field (low value prairie on private land). On abandoned land used as a golf course from the 1920's through the 1940's. Associates: Agrostis gigantea, Calamagrostis canadensis, Carex viridula (common), Scirpus lineatus, S. atrovirens, Juncus dudleyi, J. nodosus, Salix discolor, Rosa blanda, Phlox glaberrima, Calamintha glabella, Hypericum kalmianum, Potentilla anserina, Lobelia spicata, Aster simplex, Lobelia spicata, Solidago gigantea.
