Habitat:
Growing on moist to wet sphagnum hummocks in a high-quality cedar/fir/alder swamp, about 75% cover; interspersed with Carex leptalea, C. tenuiflora, and C. disperma. Other associates included Ledum, Betula pumila, Rubus pubescens, Osmunda regale, Maianthemum, Triantalis, Equisetum fluviatile, Pyrola secunda, Mitella nuda, Carex interior, and Linnaea. Triglochin maritimum and Cypripedium calceolus is common in places and C. parviflora has been reported.
