Semi-open tamarck/black spruce swamp along creek. Other associates included Betula pumila, Iris versicolor, Potentilla palustris, Carex lasiocarpa and other sedges. C. tenuiflora was mainly found between sphagnum hummocks where conditions were somewhat wetter. The area is part of a large forested wetland complex, by turns dominated by cedar, tamarack, or tamarack/black spruce, often with alder and/or balsam fir. It forms the headwaters.
