Habitat: Open wet Carex stricta meadow surrounding small shallow lake at base of Cary terminal moraine, the Carex (C. sartwelii) associated with Thelypteris palustris var. pubescens (abundant), Carex prairie, Typha latifolia, Ulmus americana (lone small tree), Rubus idaeus var. strigosus, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Cornus stolonifera, and Aster puniceus. Organic soil formed from sedge peat, underlain by silt or clay or marl, the habitat apparently calcareous though surrounded by hills of loamy sands.
