Habitat: Open bog: dominated by Carex lasiocarpa with islands of Menyanthes trifoliata, Vaccinium spp. or Myrica gale. Open water areas have Utricularia spp., Sarracenia purpurea, Drosera spp., Eriophorum spp. [Scales suffused with lead color; uppermost leaf-blade shorter than its sheath; achenes 2.3-3.0 mm long; involucral leaf single, shorter than inflorescence.]
