Wet sphagnum-Ericaceae mat. Slightly drier surrounding mat composed of the Chamaedaphne-Sphagnum society with Carex spp., Eriophorum tenellum, E. virginicum, Calla palustris, Smilacina trifolia, Ledum groenlandicum, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Sarracenia purpurea, Andromeda glaucophylla, this grading on the outside through a narrow zone of Larix laricina into an open Picea mariana swamp. In patches where black spruce bog thins into Chamaedaphne-sphagnum meadow.
