Habitat:
Associated with Carex lupulina, C. crinita, Juncus effusus, J. canadensis, Ranunculus pensylvanicus, Rubus pubescens, Hypericum punctatum, Epilobium glandulosum, and red maple seedlings. Locally abundant; this species apparently a pioneer, forming frequent dense colonies (only occasional in Monroe and Juneau Cos.) along I-94 the length of the county in damp sand of grassy roadside ditches through white pine-white birch forests.
