Habitat: Rich low deciduous woods (Acer saccharum-Tilia americana ass'n, w/ Quercus alba (large old trees), Fraxinus americana, Ulmus rubra, Ostrya virginiana, Carpinus caroliniana, on first terrace of river; dark-colored silt loam soil. Forest understory. A privately owned 40-acre stand w/ a history of cutting but no grazing. Along N side of river.
