Habitat: Openings in forest and along sandy riverbank. With Helenium autumnale, Rumex verticillatus, Vernonia fasciculata, Eragrostis hypnoides, Xanthium strumarium. Overgrwon oopening in swale in riverbottom woods. Weedy, with Asclepias incarnata, Lycopus virginicus, Scrophularia marilandica, Panicum capillare.
