Habitat: Wooded swamp along road. With Fraxinus nigra, Alnus rugosa, Abies balsmaea, Populus tremuloides, Symplocarpus foetidus, Salix bebbiana, Saxifraga pensylvanica, Onoclea sensibilis, Caltha palustris, Cornus stolonifera, Clintonia borealis and, in higher areas, Geum rivale.
