Habitat: Shrubby transition zone between sedge-shrub marsh and bur oak-black oak savannah, with Populus tremuloides, Cornus stolonifera, Phalaris arundinacea, Pycnanthemum virginianum, and Solidago canadensis. This species is generally considered to be non-native in Wisconsin, although it is rarely encountered in thickets and disturbed woods in the southern two tiers of counties.
