Habitat:
Part of gorgeous, undisturbed 13-acre fen, meadow toward upland (railroad) edge, not necessarily drier. Along rivulet; Carex stricta dominant (tussocks larger than usual), with Calamagrostis canadensis, Poa palustris, Iris virginica var. shrevei, Ribes hirtellum var. hirtellum, Angelica atropurpurea, and Galium asprellum. Wetland extends from W of tracks to E of Hwy., i.e., railroad and highway were built right through it. Mid-morning soil temperature : 11.5 C at both 20 cm and 1 m deep.
