Habitat:
Part of gorgeous, undisturbed 13-acre fen, meadow toward upland (railroad) edge, not necessarily drier. Carex stricta dominant, with Typha angustifolia (abundant), Poa pratensis, Muhlenbergia glomerata, Bromus ciliatus, Salix bebbiana, S. eriocephala, Angelica atropurpurea, Lycopus americanus, Mentha arvensis var. canadensis, Galium asprellum, Aster firmus, Eupatorium maculatum, Solidago patula var. patula, and S. uliginosa. Wetland extends from W of tracks to E of Hwy., i.e., railroad and highway were built right through it. Mid-morning soil temperature : 11.5 C at both 20 cm and 1 m deep.
