Habitat: Part of gorgeous, undisturbed 13-acre fen. Meadow toward upland (railroad) edge, not necessarily drier; Carex stricta dominant, Calamagrostis canadensis subdominant; A. puniceus in wet spot with standing water, with Typha angustifolia (abundant), Bromus ciliatus, Salix bebbiana, Nasturtium officinale, Galium asprellum, Aster lucidulus, Eupatorium maculatum, E. perforatum, and Solidago gigantea.
