Habitat:
Extensive lowland prairie on huge outwash sand terrace along river. Dry-mesic segments dominated by Andropogon scoparius & Koeleria macrantha (on low swells) grading to wet segments dominated by Andropogon gerardii, Panicum virgatum & Spartina pectinata (in shallow swales). Dry-mesic prairie (not dense and turfy), with Apocynum sibiricum, Achillea millefolium, Artemisia ludoviciana, Aster ericoides, Prunus pumila, Rosa blanda, Juncus interior, Poa compressa, P. pratensis and Salix petiolaris. Deep loose loamy sand on top of low swell near (800 ft. S & W of) river; full sun.
