Former sedge meadow between base of knoll and creek, now a monotypic grass marsh consisting of an extensive, severley dense cover of Phalaris arundinacea. One to two dozen trees, some Salix fragilis, others Populus deltoides, mark the barely distunguishable course of creek which we crossed and re-crossed withou realizing it before finding a short string of tiny pools immersed in the Phalaris that must constitute a portion of its bed.
