Habitat: Large virgin wet-mesic prairie (25 acres), quite flat w/ seasonally flooded shallow depressions, surrounded by ag lands on all sides. Soil: dark-colored loam with sandy clayey loam subsoil and a large amount of organic matter. Shallow narrow ditch forming S boundary (still part of natural area), filled with thicket-forming vegetation, including: Phalaris arundinacea, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Prunus americana, P. virginiana, Salix interior, S. rigida, Convulvulus sepium, Galium obtusum var. ramosum,
