Habitat: Weedy transition zone between moist grassy clearing and Thuja occidentalis-Betula papyrifera forest; sandy ground. Assoc.: Carex brunnescens, C. projecta, C. houghtoniana, Epilobium angustifolium ssp. circumvagum, Aralia spinosa, Diervilla lonicera, Prunus pensylvanica, Anaphalis margaritacea and tree (Populus tremuloides, Betula papyrifera, Acer saccharum) seedlings.
