Habitat: Wet swamp of Larix laricina (1-dom.)- Picea mariana (2 dom.). More or less dense forest, the floor wet and mossy (incl. Sphagnum), shrub layer dominated by Betula pumila (s.l.), the herb layer by Carex lasiocarpa. Assoc.: Equisetum arvense, E. fluviatile Gylceria canadensis, Carex paupercula, C. canescens, C. leptalea, C. trisperma, Smilacina trifolia, Rubus pubescens, Potentilla palustris, Gaultheria hispidula, Chelone glabra, Campanula aparinoides v. grandiflora, Aster puniceus, A. umbellat.
