Habitat: Swampy woods. With Corylus americana, Abies balsamea, Betula lutea and Pilea pumila. Thorns few, simple, curved or straight. No other plant or Crataegus near, 3.3m high, very broad; about as broad as high; much branched. Lowest branch 1.5dm above ground. Lowest bark gray, shaggy.
