Habitat: Deciduous woods and thickets of several kinds, usually dry but occasionally with moist spots or stands, on rocky hillsides and summit. In rocky opening on very top of "mountain". Assoc.: Panicum depauperatum, Diervilla lonicera, Rhus typhina, R. glabra, & R. Xboreale; little else in immediate vicinity.
