Habitat: Rather dry white birch-aspen-red pine-balsam fir woods. Other associates included bracken, big-leaf aster, Diervilla, wintergreen, twinflower, pipsissewa, Aralia nudicaulis, bunchberry, cow-wheat, Vaccinium myrtilloides, and club-mosses.
