One of seven or eight pockets (openings) of wet-mesic prairie embedded in moist thickets; tussocky almost like the southern sedge meadow, but the tussocks are Sporobolus heterolepis, not Carex; immediate assoc. for 13971, 13972, 13973: Juncus nodosus, Spiranthes cernua, S. magnicamporum, Geum triflorum, Zizia aptera, Cornus stolonifera seedlings, Pentaphylloides floribunda, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Galium boreale, Aster oolentangiensis, A. pilosus var. pringlei, Ratibida pinnata, Solidago riddellii.
