Prairie fen; assoc.: Schizachyrium scoparium (dominant), Sporobolus heterolepis (patches), Muhlenbergia glomerata, Juncus nodosus, Parnassia glauca, Pentaphylloides floribunda, Lysimachia quadriflora (abundant), Lythrum alatum, Lycopus americanus,. Pycnanthemum virginianum, Lobelia kalmii, many Compositae, including Aster borealis, A. ericoides, Liatris pycnostachya (spectacular populations), Solidago uliginosa, S. riddellii, & S. ohioensis. Variable landscape w/ pockets & patches of prairie fens, sedge meadows, and wet thickets. Wis. DNR Habitat Preservation Area, recovering agricultural land that has prairies, fens, been in public ownership for ca. 50 years, grazed before then, burned this spring for the first time in many decades.
