Habitat: Xeric prairie on shallow soil. Grazed prior to 1950. Recent fires have reduced canopy of Rhus glabra. With Amorpha canescens, Baptisia leucophaea, Hieracium longipilum, Leptoloma cognatum, Lespedeza capitata, Ranunculus fascicularis, Rumex acetosella,. Viola sagittata.
