Road shoulder gravel mixed with and overlying sand; assoc: two dry sand sect. Ovales spp., Carex bicknellii and C. brevior, with Poa compressa, Rumex acetosella, Hedeoma hispida, and Centaurea beibersteinii. Area soil is Plainfield fine sand on highest terrace level of Black River, i.e., loose fine sand underlain by loose fine sand, but structure disturbed by road-building.
