Habitat: Large virgin wet-mesic prairie (25 acres), quite flat w/seasonally flooded shallow depressions, surrounded by ag lands on all sides. Soil- dark-colored loam with sandy clayey loam subsoil and large amount of organic matter. Assoc. Sphenopholis intermedia Koeleria macrantha, Lysimachia quadriflora, Geum aleppicum var. strictum, Rosa arkansas var. suffulta (abundant), Zizia aptera, Z. aurea, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Galium boreale ssp. septentrionalis, Rudbeckia hirta var. pulcherrima, Silphium laciniatum
