Habitat: Sedge- & grass-dom. swale-like strip 7 m wide, perhaps mowed once ea. spring, betw. much broader, regularly mowed roadside & adjoining swampy woods of quaking aspen-red maple-jack pine. Surface soil moist, slightly peaty,dark gray fine sandy loam, prob. slightly acid. Carex stricta dom., Glyceria canadensis subdom., forming a uniform meadow-like cover 7 dm tall from which emerge widely scattered plants of Osmunda regalis, Helianthus giganteus, & Solidago gigantea, all direct assoc. of the Eleocharis,
