Habitat:
Fairly shady (but somewhat open) path along top of abandoned causeway leading to old wooden bridge foundations, surrounded by flood plain silver maple-river birch forest. Dry sandy ground in <> open woods. Assoc.: Agrostis perennans,. Elymus virginicus, Muhlenbergia frondosa, Poa palustris, Saponaria officinalis, Aster lateriflorus, and Solidago gigantea. Dry (not moist) ground in open sandy woods. 4 1/2 mi. due SE of Lyndon Station. Upper ligules 1.7-2.1 mm; florets narrow, larger 2nd gluma 2.0-2.2 mm; few lemmas present, these narrow and golden at tips. Locally common.
