Habitat:
High sandy bank at edge of Pinus banksiana barrens; open ground in nearly full sun. Assoc.: saplings of Populus tremuloides & Pinus banksiana, also Comptonia peregrina, Carex pensylvanica, Fragaria virginiana, Rubus hispidus, Campanula rotundifolia. Very local; 16 flowering stems (cf. Kodachromes).
