Habitat: formerly upper beach. Mowed grassy roadside; assoc. a mixture of weeds and native herbs and tree seedlings. Also; Equisetum (2 spp.), Scirpus americanus, Juncus balticus, Agalinis purpurea var. parviflora, Gentiana procera, and seedlings of : Thuja,. Salix, Corylus and Shepherdia.
