Habitat: Located floating or just under the surface in sheltered areas. Common assoc.: (Nymphaea odorata) white water lily, (Nuphar variegata) spatterdock, (Lemna minor) small duckweed, (Zizania palustris) northern wild rice.
Notes: Scattered individuals occur interspersed between the lilypads and wild rice beds of the northern bays.
