Habitat:
Muck bottom in 0-2 meters of water where it often forms dense canopies. Common assoc.: (Nymphaea odorata) white water lily, Najas flexilis) bushy pondweed, (Vallisneria americana) wild celery, (Eleodea canadensis) common waterweed, (Ceratophyllum demersum) coontail.
Notes:
Relatively common in both lakes. It occurs on most sheltered shoreline areas; It prefers a firmer bottom than (Nymphaea odorata).
