Habitat:
Muck bottom in 0-2 meters of water where it often forms dense canopies. Common assoc.: (Nymphaea odorata) white water lily, (Brasenia schreberi) watershield, (Utricularia vulgaris) common bladderwort, (Utricularia intermedia) flat-leaf bladderwort.
Notes:
Relatively common in muck bays and sheltered shoreline areas. It prefers a firmer bottom than Nymphaea odorata.
